The Japanese sewing technique sashiko is based on simple stitches that have traditionally been used to mend clothes and textiles in more or less advanced patterns. During the workshop you will learn different stitches and techniques for making or creating free embroidered works.

The workshop is led by Japanese designer and artist Takao Momiyama. Since his graduation at Konstfack, he has worked with textile materials and techniques. The focus has shifted from textile printing and products to freer work. More than ten years ago, he began to work on the Japanese sewing technique sashiko. Recycling and the slow sewing process are related to the technique. Working together and spreading knowledge is important to Takao Momiyama. He has also written the book Mending with sashiko, published by Natur och Kultur 2024.

The workshop is suitable for both beginners and those with experience in sahiko sewing.

Cost: 1750 kr (1550 kr for Vandalorum Friends). Materials and lunch are included. Please bring any item of clothing that you would like to mend. Please indicate any allergies or special dietary requirements when registering.
