Amanda Björk works with painting within the expanded field in the borderland between painting, sculpture and installation. In the artistic process, she places a great focus on textile dyeing and natural dyes. Her works are often site-specific, they either relate to or adapt to their given environment. Björk's interest in permaculture, forestry and agriculture is evident in Björk's work. In this there is an inclusion of different craft traditions and influences from different cultures.
Björk was awarded the Paul Peterson Prize in 2021 with the motivation: “The influences come together into an innovative whole: Eastern ink painting, undulating arboriculture, pigment plant cultivation and newspaper sheets. It is painting with features of sculpture, poetry and local history.” The scholarship is awarded by Region Jönköping County, which manages the Paul Peterson Foundation for the benefit of art students from Jönköping County with the aim of developing and realising artistic ideas and projects. The following year, the work will be presented in an exhibition at Småland's Art Archive Vandalorum.
