In Thour's exhibition, the visitor enters an installation in the form of a dense forest inhabited by predators in a kind of fable-like scenography. The naïve aesthetic of the paintings is reminiscent of children's drawings and brings to life memories of games and role-playing games. Often the games are characterized by strong hierarchies, group affiliation and exclusion, social games that also characterize the adult world.
Thour's approach to painting allows the viewer to become an actor in the stories he stages. Stories that can shift in meaning depending on the location of the paintings and the relationship between work, person and place.
Jesper Thour (b. 1993 in Växjö) is active in Småland and Stockholm. He works mainly with painting, which seeks to explore the space in the borderland between scenography and installation. Thour received a master's degree in fine art from Konstfack in Stockholm in 2021 and has since participated in several group exhibitions, including in collaboration with the curatorial collective Flat Octopus.
