Ida begins the workshop by showing her own work to inspire and spark ideas among the participants. She demonstrates different ways of working with patchwork in her artistry.
Ida brings pre-cut square fabric pieces in various colors that we use to create new patterns. By choosing different fabrics, we can easily create unique compositions. We move the fabrics around as we like and create shapes from the square pieces. If we want, we can then hand-sew our patterns together into a quilt. It becomes an ongoing project that we can take with us and pick up whenever we feel like doing something creative.
Ida Pettersson Preutz (b. 1989) lives and works in Älmhult, Småland.
This workshop is part of Vandalorum's project Rich in Years, funded by the Kamprad Family Foundation. The project aims to increase the quality of life and enrich the everyday lives of elderly people in need throughout Småland by making art and design accessible. The activity takes place at residential care homes and day centers for the elderly in Älmhult and Växjö and the surrounding areas, and can be booked free of charge.
Vandalorum, a museum for art and design in Värnamo, has extensive experience working with customized educational projects for the elderly.
