As a debuting ceramic artist in the 1950s, Lisa Larson belonged to a young generation that broke with the conventions of craft and design at the time. More successfully than any other Swedish designer, Larson managed to bring postwar modernism's fondness for the rustic, rough, and expressive to a wide audience. Later, Larson would change her artistic expression several times, but she always remained faithful to the expressive power of clay.
Love Jönsson worked closely with Lisa Larson and her family during the last ten years of her life and helped produce four major exhibitions of her work in Sweden and Japan. The lecture combines art and design historical perspectives with personal memories and anecdotes.
Love Jönsson is the former museum director of the Rian Design Museum in Falkenberg and is currently the artistic director of Wärenstams, an independent cultural venue in Borås.
Lunch will be served from 11.20am, the lecture will start at 12.00pm
