Aldridge works primarily with painting as a medium and has for thirty years investigated how we represent nature in art. Aldridge draws inspiration from natural history field guides, Renaissance landscapes, Baroque still lifes and heavy metal music. Through an open process of layering upon layer of visual elements, Aldridge creates a kind of patchwork in his works where birds and flowers have been given a distinctly elevated position. The complex and dense image composition in the works can be compared to a unique visual language that permeates the entire artistry. In this summer's exhibition at Småland Art Archive, Aldridge exhibits three new works that have not previously been shown to the public, along with a selection of older works.
