The Square at "Flanaden" in Värnamo city center is created by Kalle Boman and Ruben Östlund and was inaugurated on April 18 2015 in connection with the opening of the exhibition The Square. The exhibition and The Square on Flanaden served as a pre-study for Ruben Östlund's acclaimed film The Square which won the Gold Palm at the Cannes Film Festival May 28 2017. The Square was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Non-English-language Film, won six European Film Awards and won "Guldbaggen" twice for Best Director and Best Photo.
